Good Sam Rally 2/24 – 2/27/17. Avondale AZ. Phoenix International Speedway
Four nights boondocking at the speedway. This one was a bit smaller than the last rally we attended. Still we enjoyed the time there. A couple of seminars were informative; as usual there is always discounted services and items to take advantage of, which we did. One of the perks of rallies.Nor far from the speedway there is a county park, Estrella Mountain Regional Park. Numerous hiking, biking, equestrian trails; perfect for a day visit and picnic. There are several RV sites with full hookups, sites for dry camping. Reasonably priced. While we didn’t stay there for long, drove around to take a look, then a short hike up the hills. Picturesque views; wildflowers were just starting to bloom. Well worth a visit. A good place for RVers traveling through. Only about 15 minutes off of I-10.
Verde Valley RV resort Cottonwood, AZ 2/27 – 3/19/17Our next stop just a couple hours north of Phoenix was Cottonwood. Verde Valley is a nice, rustic rv resort. The Verde River flowing alongside the resort. Though we couldn’t see it from our site it’s just a short easy walk.
Friendly people and staff, so far it’s been a pleasant stay.
So far we have visited Jerome. Once a copper mining, then ghost town…..

We said goodbye to Cottonwood on March 18th and headed to Phoenix, spent a couple of days at the Phoenix Elks Lodge. Like a lot of lodges they have rv parking for their traveling members.
Our next stop was Nexus RV in Mesa, Az for some routine service on the coach
and a makeover in the kitchen.
Before:
Amazing what a change a little tile makes.
We had a pleasant stay, the staff there couldn’t have been more accommodating. Great group of people. We met some nice people. Spent an evening on the Pickleball court at Mesa Regal RV resort with a new acquaintance. It had been awhile since William had gotten a chance to play, people there couldn’t have been more friendly. And the courts were great. A lovely fairly new sports center, several tennis and pickleball courts and a shuffleboard court. Lots of money spent there. Great resort.
After about a week it was time to move on. Next stop New Mexico.
