We left Mesa on Monday, March 27th. We’re taking our travels easy, maybe two hundred miles per day. Traveling the I-10 we made it to the AZ/NM border and spent the night at the rest stop.
Next morning on the road again. We stopped early at the rest stop in Las Cruces. A lot of history in NM but we didn’t get a chance for siteseeing. New Mexico’s state bird is the roadrunner. We saw this at the rest stop.
The following day we headed out for a few days in Roswell. We’re staying at the elks lodge, which nicely have hook ups.
This historical home was built in 1912 and donated to the historical society.
And couldn’t not take a look at the UFO museum…
There are also a few art museums.
Just driving around we found the Spring River Park and Zoo. It’s an animal refuge, free to tour and there are a variety of animals. There are two magnificent Am. Eagles, both had been injured by humans and can no longer live in the wild. And there’s this guy showing off:
The only down side since we hit this state is that’s it’s been a very windy and gusty. Shaked the coach quite a bit, difficult to do anything outside.
Overall it’s been a good stay in NM. We’re off tomorrow and headed for Texas.
