Back on the road…….

Leaving St George, the beautiful Pine Valley Mountains and Red Rocks.

After a months stay in St. George, it was time to move on.  Leaving sunny weather and the start of spring, at least in this part of the state.  It was an enjoyable stay, nice park, lots of pickle ball and beautiful scenery.  Onward north.  But right as we were getting the coach ready to leave, this arrived.

Had the whimsical idea that they were there to say good-bye, or take us to Oz……always been a fan of the Wizard of Oz.  But of course, it was not so.  Not sure why, but they landed in the local high school yard.

Road Trip!

Don’t you just love the idea of a place named Dog Valley!!

Our next stop of Heber City, UT nestled in Heber Valley surrounded by more majestic mountains.  Another nice rv park and we settled in for another months stay.  My hope was to leave winter behind us, especially as we continued north.  Unfortunately that was not to be.  While spring sprung in the southern part of the state, winter was hanging on along with a tenacity of a dog with her favorite pull toy.  We encounter rain, lots of rain, cold winds and even some snow.  Poor plants who thought it was time to sprout, shivering on their stems.  But we did see some interesting sites.

Park City

Old Town – Downtown

Ski season had just ended by the time we got there…..not much going on in between seasons.

Shoe Tree Park……..evidently it is a tradition to throw your shoes up in the trees……but no, you can’t take a pair in exchange.

Olympic Park Utah. Site of the 2002 Winter Olypics. Open year round and open to the public. Zip lines, bobsled rides, Ski jumps…..pretty cool place to tour. William tried for the bobsled experience, each day though it rained. Rain makes the tracks too slipery and they will not run the sleds. Maybe next year. And yes, it snowed while we were there.

Practice ski runs, jumps end in a pool.

Snow!!

Heber City and surrounding areas

Near Heber City, Soldier Hollow – another site of the 2002 Olympics.

Back at the camp site……

Heber City train ride with the obligatory train robbery and gorgeous scenery.

What’s a visit to Salt Lake City without seeing the Church of Jesus Christ of Lader Day Saints Temple and Tabernacle.

Unfortunately the weather started turning bad, again, by the time we finished lunch so we cut the visit to the city short. I did take a quick look to their Family History Center. And for those who know I am very interested in genealogy you have to know that was a treat for me. I could spend days just searching……but we only had a short time that day. Such a TEASE!!

We did take a drive to Salt Lake……

While we enjoyed our stay in this part of Utah, the weather just did not cooperate for us. Spring had supposedly sprung but winter kept its hold on the region. Rain, cold, snow continued……and continued. Occasionally the sun would shine, but inevitably the clouds would overtake and here comes the rain. There were many days we just stayed inside. And it continued on as we mover further north.

May flowers in between the May showers…..

Till next time……Safe Travels to wherever you may travel
